details of death
At the beginning of World War I, as a result of the defeat of the Austro–Hungarian troops in 08‐09.1914 in the so‐called Battle of Galicia, on 23.08.1914 Ternopil and its monastery fell under Russian occupation.
The situation did not change even after Austria–Hungary and Germany broke the front on 05.05.1915 in the Battle of Gorlice and pushed the Russians eastward — Ternopil remained in Russian hands until 27.07.1917.
On 11‐12.12.1915 the Russians conducted a search of the monastery of Jesuit SI Fathers' in Ternopil. Arrested some of the monks, including him and Br Anthony Korytko. Ravaged and closed the monastery (it remained closed even after the fall of tsarism, till 09.07.1917).
Held in the custody of the District Court in Ternopil.
On 19.12.1915, transported by train east to Pidvolochysk, halfway to Proskuriv, and from there at night in wagons to the army HQ prison in military barracks in Volochysk, c. 5 km away.
From there transported to a prison in Kiev.
There perished in prison's hospital.
