At the beginning of World War I, 1914‐1918, drafted into the army of the German Empire as a chaplain.
Ministered on the Eastern Front.
After the armistice between the Allies and Germany on 11.11.1918 in a railway carriage in the Compiègne forest, de facto ending the military operations of World War I, the process of withdrawing the Germans from the occupied territories in the east began.
The first transports with German troops began to pass through the key railway junction in Białystok at the end of 11.1918 and at the beginning of 12.1918.
While retreating with his unit from Lithuania (or Belarus), contracted dysentery.
Soon perished.
