In 1905, forcibly „transferred to another parish” — under pressure from the Russian authorities — in connection with leading a procession around the church, which was forbidden.

Murdered by the Bolsheviks in unknown circumstances during the Latvian War of Independence (1918‑1920).

The war began with the invasion of Latvia by the Russian Bolsheviks in 01.1919, repelled with the help of German forces; then, with the help of Estonian troops, the Germans were driven out of Latvia; in the next stage, in 10‑11.1919, the Latvians fought against the German–Russian offensive of the anti–Bolshevik forces; finally in 01.1920 the Bolsheviks were pushed out of Latvia (Latgalia region) by Polish and Latvian forces.
