After start of the World War I, after German–victorious battle of Tannenberg in 08.1914, his parish was under German occupation.

According to Lithuanian sources started then supporting the independent Lithuania cause.

After Lithuania announced independence in 11.1918 and Lithuanian–Russian (Bolshevik) war started, in c. 01.1919 his parish found itself under Bolshevik occupation.

Arrested by the Russians — or Lithuanians/Latvians collaborating with them — on 27.01.1919.

Held in Jēkabpils prison in Latvia.

There on 26.02.1919 sentenced by a Bolshevik court to death.

Next day at daybreak murdered — shot dead in an execution.

His body go buried in Raseiniai in Lithuania.
