Excerpt from the situation report of the PUBP manager in Chełm regarding the murder of 2 Ukrainians:
„On March 23, 1945, at 11 p.m., a group of over 100 men armed with small arms and machine guns stayed in the village of Żmudź in the Żmudź commune, killing two farmers of Ukrainian nationality — Nierod Wasyl and Kopczyński. In addition, the commander of the MO Drobnicki and the policeman Pawłowski were beaten and disarmed, and all inhabitants of Ukrainian nationality were robbed”.
