general info

Tokarnia

Excerpt from the situational report of Stepan Golasz 'Mar', the OUN reporter from the Beskid region about the murder by Polish Army soldiers on Ukrainians in Tokarnia:
On April 7, 1946, two battalions of the Polish Armed Forces carried out a raid on a forest near the villages of Wola Piotrowa and Tokarnia. The Polish Army ran from the forest into Tokarnia in the Sanok Poviat, where there were still [illegible word] of Ukrainian families. They shot two men aged 17 and 35 in the village, and a third, 74‑year‑old man, was killed by receiving a gun butt on the head, and then 7 bayonet blows to the chest. They robbed what was left in the village and ordered to leave the village within two days. They arrested one peasant and led him through Bukowsko, claiming that they had caught a banderite”.
