Fragment of the memories of Michał Knysz, born in in 1932 in Czerwona Wola:
„I do not know how long we had peace after the front passed […] However, I can determine the beginning of hell by the date of death of my uncle Iwas Meszko and Król 'Haluśka'.
Already in 1945, these two boys were murdered, and their schoolmates Michał Ciurko, nicknamed 'Lonio' and Głowa, did it, but I do not know whether Głowa is a surname or a nickname. A Pole, Krupka, was taking them all by car to Sieniawa for registration or something, but I know that they were afraid to intercede there.
When they reached the height of Słoty near the farms of Osowskie, Bochnów and Sawa 'Moskal', the boys jumped off the cart and started to run away. Uncle Iwaś got a bullet a few meters from the wagon, and Flis fell into a cluster of houses called Iwancie. My aunt Tacjanna said later that she saw how 'Lonio' ran out from behind the Bochnów orchard and aimed at Flis. 'Lonio' fired three shots, and after the third Flis fell. 'Lonio' ran up to him. My aunt asked
— «Michał, what have you done?»
And he said:
— «He is damned now, why was he running away?»
They put Iwas Meszko and Flis on the wagon and left in the middle of Słoty, and they went to Sieniawa themselves, probably to boast that they had killed 2 Ukrainians. They came back from there singing, well tipsy”.
