Słoboda Mała
Excerpt from Ivan Worobel's memoirs about the murder of members of 14 Ukrainians in Słoboda by an unknown group of Poles:
„The Ukrainian idea, engulfing Słoboda, caused the mad anger of Polish chauvinists, who failed to drag any Słoboda inhabitant to church, to dent their steadfastness, loyalty to the ideals of their grandfathers and grandfathers. Taking advantage of the situation preceding the 'Vistula' operation, they decided to murder the village. The part called Słoboda Mała, which had 20 farmyards, fell victim to them. One night, beasts surrounded this place and murdered anyone who fell into their hands. The reason was not that someone in 1944 spoke out against the Polish authorities or did even minimal harm to a Pole. They murdered because we were Ukrainians, we prayed not in their church, but in our own church. Seven people were murdered on the farmyard of Ilka Mokrycki, including two children, one of them was lying in a cradle. Among the victims were Mychajło Kwik […] Oleh Hiś, 15 people in total, death did not spare even to the homeless Pole, Jasiek Trusz, a rural cooper”.

Fragment of an interview with Mikołaj Mokrycki, born on in 1932 in Słoboda […] :
„— «In our village there was only a chapel, where people came to pray, there we baptized Easter strips at Ilek Mokrycki's, they called 'to Krysia', in the yard, they were killed»…
— «Who was killed?»
— «At Mokrycki's, they were already gathering people to spend the night. That gang then hit them, they shot them there. How many?… Around eight people… I don't need to talk about that…»
— «No, you have to».
— «They had manual machine gun for defense, with a disc, Diagtiarov's gun. And this Ilko, he had no children. When the others came to Krysia, he went to sleep at the Złota. When the gang came, they took Diagtiarov's gun with them. And right away from that Diagtiarov's gun they shot around eight people in the house, including an old Pole».
— «It was in his house?»
— «Yes, in his house. They brought the boy to us, to my yard and shot him near the stable. He walked around Polish villages, he probably knew Poles, this gang».
— «Who was that boy?»
— «His name was Iwan Mokrycki. My mother was in France, my brother died, the young one, he might have been 14‑16 years old».
— «Where did the Diagtiarov's gun come from?»
— «The farmer had it, and those who were to protect the village went hunting for wild boars. They left out this boy».
— «Who was killed then?»
— «There were also people displaced from Wieprzów, somewhere in Poland, because we had Kubicz like that… I don't remember the names of those shot».
— «Men or women?»
— «Women, men were not there, except the old man, a Pole [Jan Trusz — BH], whom they shot, and the rest were only women» […]
— «Where were the people murdered at Mokrycki's buried?»
— «Security from various villages gathered, they came also fromfrom Dąbrowica, because we had an Orthodox church in Dąbrowica, and in the cemetery in Dąbrowica all the murdered were buried»”.
