Oserdów

Excerpt from the report prepared by 'Czumak', the employee of the SB‑OUN from the V District II of the Zakerzon Region, on the Polish Army terror, which led to murder of one Ukrainian from Oserdów by the soldiers:
On April 24, 1946 at 6 a.m. Border Security Corps WOP from Bełz in the number of 70 people carried out an attack on the village of Oserdów. This day was the celebration of St Michael in the Latin rite and the day of celebrations in Belz. There were a lot of parties in the city. WOP and militia MO played the whole day, drank, and finally everyone got drunk. They became very heroic under the influence of alcohol. They sat down to one car, and the rest went on foot towards Oserdów via Tuszków  […] On the same day, Paweł Maluca from Oserdów, a tailor, about [illegible], went to Tuszków to get his jacket. He was one of the poorest people in the village, he had no family  […] The drunken WOP crowd attacked the old man and started beating him terribly. Earlier, they shot him, and when he was wounded, they started to torture further, in a well–known fashion over him: they cruelly mutilated his head so that only by clothes you could recognize the corpse. When the wounded and in addition beaten old man could not move but grunted, civilized barbarians continued to torment him and massacred him. Considering him to be a 'Banderite scout', they inquired about such things the unfortunate man had never heard of. When he could not answer these questions, they began to break the bones of his hands, then bayonets stabbed his entire body blue with blows, quite sore  […] There was nothing else to do but to give the unfortunate man one last favor: shoot him. They did so too  […]

Oserdów

Excerpt from the report prepared by 'Czumak', the employee of the SB‑OUN from the V District II of the Zakerzon Region, on the Polish Army terror, which led to murder of one Ukrainian from Oserdów by the soldiers:
On May 4, 1946, 100 people from the Polish Army performed at around 9 p.m. an attack at village of Oserdów. They entered from the side of Belz, did not shoot until the first man they met started to run away  […] The soldiers went from house to house, lighting them with panicles. In this way they were guided by their insane work. They burned down 25 farms that day  […] They were afraid to enter, so they usually shot inside and threw grenades. In one house, where the inhabitants did not manage to turn off the lights, they shot from a distance of about 150 meters, killing Stepaniya Grycaj, 22 years old. 80. The unfortunate one, not sensing the tragedy, was just standing by the window, where she was also killed  […]
In addition, they killed Hryhorij Music age c. 80. They called this old man from the house to the yard and started beating him terribly, because someone was running away near his house (which is very doubtful). The unfortunate man fell to the ground after the first blow that prevented a man his age from uttering a single word. The sadists beat him for a long time and kicked him, in the end they almost shot the corpse. Then they threw it into the fire so as not to leave a trace of their animal deeds. However, the corpse did not burn completely, only the legs. The population was horrified to see the mutilated body of the deceased: head crushed beyond recognition, whole body blue, broken ribs and a completely broken chest  […]
