general info
1993 May, Horodenka — Polish translation of Wira Kyszakewicz's memoirs about Leżajsk in January and February 1945:
„The next day, or maybe later, in the German Doły between Leżajsk and Wierzawice, the inhabitants of Leżajsk were murdered: Wołodymyr Kyszakewicz (Lew's brother) with his wife and Olga Struc (Wańczyk). These Ukrainians fled to Dębno, they were taking their property on a cart. Wiśka Chamiec, a resident of Leżajsk, was walking from Leżajsk to Dębno and met her neighbor, Wołodymyr Kyszakiewicz, a Pole, Owsik, with a bloodied knife. Owsik asked her where she was coming from, and she replied that she was from Wierzawice. She understood that the real answer could cost her her life. Owsik did not attack her and continued on to Leżajsk. After some time, Wiśka Chamiec came across a wagon and the dead Kyszakiewiczs and Olga Struc.
Poles such as Diduch, Szpilka, and Antek Kiełbowicz, who either belonged to bands or were their agents, were not very famous.
The husband of the aforementioned Olga Struc, Iwan Struc, also died as a martyr. The bandits caught him on ul. Pieracki, tied it to a horse's tail and drove the horse to Wierzawice, to the San River”.
