On March 19, a mixed Soviet–Ukrainian group again attacked Kuryłówka. The sounds of the shooting alerted the detachment of 'Wołyniak' [the NOW National Military Organization] staying in nearby Tarnawiec, which together with the 'Lis' and 'Majka' troops displaced the attackers from the village who withdrew to Kulno. The group of 'Wołyniak' began to surround the village, which forced the Soviets to withdraw towards Krzeszów. Partisans of 'Wołyniak' entered Kulno, abandoned by the Red Army soldiers, and killed about 50 inhabitants of villages of Ukrainian nationality”.

Kulno

1959 March 21, Rzeszów — Fragment of the interrogation report of Jan Stelmachowicz in the case against Michał Krupa:
The unit of Soviet soldiers, after the losses it received from us [during the battle in Kuryłówka — BH], withdrew towards Kulno. We followed this unit with the advent of night, but we did not find him in Kulno anymore. After arriving in Kulno, we immediately set fire to farm buildings belonging to people of Ukrainian nationality from three sides. As I recall, about a hundred farm buildings were burnt by us at that time. During this action, about 10 (ten) Ukrainian people were murdered by us  […] The 'Wołyniak' gang was assisted by the 'Majka' gang and the 'Mewa' gang”.
