Cieplice Górne

Fragment of Anna Jarisz–Mokrycka's memoirs about the murder of Polish bandit neighbors on […] Ukrainians in Cieplice:
In these troubled times, Poles abused the Ukrainians, a special persecution was suffered by the family of my aunt [Marija Hrod — BH] from Jan Kazub from Colony of Poland, who he thought that his aunt had brought great wealth from Francia  […] On Saturday, 29 1945, he and his gang attacked Cieplice Górne. He found an aunt in the children and an old mother  […] and demanded money from them, but because there was no money, they would kill them with a shot in the stomach in front of the mother and small children”.
[Comment: the date is unclear. In 1945, Holy Saturday, according to the Julian calendar, fell on April 1, 1945, i.e. April 14, 1945 according to the Gregorian calendar. And such a date was adopted, GTKRK]

Cieplice Górne

On May 2, 1945, the entire unit of the 3rd Independent Operational Battalion of the Internal Forces deserted in Biłgoraj. The battalion of the 11th NKVD border regiment set out to pursue the deserters. During the search on May 6, the NKVD unit led by Stepan Wołczasty from Piskorowice — a member of the UPA and former Ukrainian policeman, attacked the MO station in Cieplice, after which 4 policemen were kidnapped and murdered. One of the Soviet troops also reached Kuryłówka, but was under fire and retreated”.
