general info
Świątkowa Wielka
Most likely in the Jasło poviat, there was an accidental skirmish between Polish troops (KBW, MO, PUBP, ORMO), during which the provincial prowidny of 'Werchowyny' Super–region, Stepan Jaroszewicz 'Robert' and the propaganda reporter Marija Kipkiszko 'Stepowa', fiancée of 'Robert', were killed. According to one of the situational reports of the MO militia station in Jasło, it appears that it happened on February 20, 1947 near Świątkowska Wielka. It is known that the OUN–UPA activists staying with their friendly hosts were surprised by the Polish forces. During the escape, 'Stepowa' was shot, and 'Robert', not wanting to leave her alone, returned, after which they both perished. This action, although not planned by the Polish side, contributed to the elimination of representatives of the OUN's senior staff in this area. Documents and seals were found on the dead. The bodies were buried in Świąkowa Wielka, near the bridge.
