general info

Huta Brzuska

[The Banderites] attacked Polish farms. The witness, Jan Koterbicki, who was then almost 13 years old, recalls:
In 1945, the Banderites' attacks on Polish farms began, and such name of the murderers remains etched in my memory to this day. The seizures were made late in the evening or at night. Those who did not leave home were mutilated or murdered. The attackers robbed cattle, horses, pigs, clothing, and anything of value. As time went on, these attacks grew in number and frequency.
To this day, I remember the nights spent or not slept in the constant fear for life in hideouts, in pits dug and hidden in the ground. The autumn–spring and rainy seasons were the worst. Then you sat in the mud and water.
This ordeal lasted until December 1946. Then the Bandera followers made the last attack on our village, which they burned down. Those who did not manage to escape were killed or injured. To this day, I remember the escape of the inhabitants from the burnt village, sometimes in their underwear and barefoot. I couldn't walk then because my legs were freezing, I was barefoot, I didn't have time to put my shoes on. We walked from Huta Brzuska through some burned villages towards the San River and the village of Babice. From there, someone took us by boat to the other side of the San River to the village of Babice  […]
All these experiences became the cause of my various illnesses, the treatment of which lasted until 1953. However, I remained crippled and today I am on a disability pension
