Płonna
Excerpt from Stepan Ananewycz's memoirs about the murders of Ukrainians in Płonna by soldiers of the Polish Army:
„Soon attacks also began on Płonna. Their first victim was Ivan Bazar, whom they [soldiers of the Polish Army] shot on the doorstep of their own house, and next to him a sadist, who was wounded a bit earlier, was finished off by Petr Birosz. On the orders of the striker, his neighbors Hryhorij Stećko and Stepan Bazar supported him in a position suitable for the shot, and the military fired at him like a dart. Another Polish soldier killed the escaping Mykhailo Mysyk with a rifle, and they led the powerless Ilek Lenia to die soon.
The next attack on our village began with the military invasion of Andriy Priadka's farm, where they allegedly came in search of Banderites. While searching, the attacker tried to take the cow, which was defended by the host's wife Anastazija. Then the robber struck her down with a shot. Her husband Andrij rushed to help the wounded wife, but the attacker also knocked him down with a rifle, and then straight from the unfortunate woman's coat he pulled bloody money, dragged the cow with him, leaving the unfortunates surrounded by crying children.
Not far, in the lower end of the village, Julija Vorotyla also tried to save her cow from being stolen and tied it to herself with a string. The plunderer did not yield: he killed the woman, cut off the string with a bayonet and took the prey.
At that time, Iwan Kremcio, Fenna Myketa and Onufrij Turnak were killed by Polish bullets. Dmytro Warcholak, Iwan Hryćko and Mykhailo Turnak died in the next military attacks. The villagers usually hid the corpses where they fell, without any ceremonies or tombstones”.

Płonna
Fragment of the memoirs of Piotr Hojsan, b. in 1924 in Płonna:
„For some time I was in self–defense. We guarded every night, but the village did not avoid the attack. I had already served in the UPA when it was time for Płonna — after Karlików was attacked. It happened sometime in February 1946. The army then killed 8 people, incl. Michał Myca with his wife, Dymitr Warcholak, Julka Szeremeta and Łenia.
The latter's death was this: Lenio was ill and could not get up from the bed. The soldiers poured water on it to make him freeze. Warcholak on the other hand was mentally ill. When he heard the army, he ran out of the house, right in front of which he was immediately hit by a bullet”.
