Kaplisze
In the hamlet of Kaplisze, poviat Lubaczów: „On March 1, 1946, 12 soldiers from the regiment stationed in Horyniec went to Lubaczów with six carts to get supplies. On the way back, near the hamlet of Kaplisze they were ambushed. Fired on from two sides by overwhelming forces, they could not defend themselves. One managed to escape, eight were killed on the spot, and three were kidnapped by the UPA. Attackers also took four carts with food. When the surviving soldier reached the headquarters, an assault unit was quickly formed and set out to help, it was an army company and a dozen or so militiamen from the Horyniec post. Near Podlesie, near the village of Sucholas, three soldiers were found brutally murdered. Their teeth were knocked out, their eyes gouged out, their entire bodies were massacred, and their hands were tied with barbed wire, they were not wearing clothes. The corpse lay covered with branches below. During the chase, a fleeing gang was encountered in the forest and an exchange of fire ensued. 16 Banderites were killed, 4 were caught alive, and a dozen managed to escape. The murdered Polish soldiers were taken to Horyniec and buried in the cemetery”.
