Fragment of Petro Szkoła's memoirs about the murder of a Ukrainian in Żużel by the authorities of the Republic of Poland:
On February 15, 1945, the Soviets disarm the Ukrainian militia established by themselves in Belz and hand over the authorities to the Poles, and they immediately start hunting Ukrainians, looting, smoking, murder  […] In April, in the pasture in front of Belz, the Poles murdered a resident of Żużel Kaczkowski on his way home from work”.

Żużel

At c. 23:00 Bandera followers launched a simultaneous attack on two watchtowers: in Bełżec and Żużle. Border Security WOP soldiers were fired on with machine gun fire and 'torpedoes'. When the watchtower in Żużle burst into flames, the shooters attacked the entrenched WOP soldiers. The clashes continued until the early hours of the morning. During the battle, the village of Żużel was burned down in 60%.
