Żuków
During the deportation in June 1945, I went with my father in a column with 20 carts through Kropiwna and Żuków to Złoczów. Behind Zhukov, a unit consisting of 20 Banderites organized an ambush in a place where there was a forest on one side and a grove on the other. They were all well–armed, mostly automatic weapons and machine guns. The convoy was stopped, everyone was told to go down from the carts to the ditch. They searched for weapons themselves. A personal search was also carried out. Several horses were unhitched and taken away. The eldest s/o Żukowski was recognized, who was a Gajowy in the forests in Żukowo. He was taken with him. The Banderites pushed the opponent and beat him with their butts. The gamekeeper pleaded for help to be defended, but no one had the courage to defend him. Eventually they disappeared into the forest leading him to his certain death.
