Zielony Dąb
The Ukrainians murdered 62 Poles. „On July 3, 1943 at around At 12 noon, armed with rifles and knives, a group of Ukrainian nationalists, claiming to be Soviet partisans, surrounded the village of Zielony Dąb ([also:] Góra Wereszczyńskich) on all sides and led all captured Poles to our yard. In the yard of the farm of Wacław Wereszczyński (our father) [in] the village of Zielony Dąb, Zdołbunów commune, Even, in the barn, all those gathered have been murdered, except for my brother Ambrose, who cleverly slipped out of that damned circle. The victims of the attack were forcibly dragged into the barn, inflicting cruel torment, stabbing wounds in the chest with knives, thus killing the adults. Men first, headed by Father Wacław Wereszczyński, what else saw Ambrose, and then the women. In the final phase, the children were herded [inside] and burned alive in a closed barn. I personally buried the murdered in the barn with my uncle Stanisław Wereszczyński and aunt Antonina Jasińska, and uncle Marcel Wereszczyński, who are now deceased. Corpses, burned with fire, of adults – the above–mentioned men were manually moved downstairs, and I with the above–mentioned aunt – the corpses of very charred children. The bodies of the youngest children were so completely burned that there were only fragments of skeletons more saturated with calcium salts, which crumbled to ashes when touched. We collected them in a bucket (preserved fragments of these skeletons) and carried them to a common grave. The cause of the massive burning was a thick layer of straw by the wooden wall, which they tried to overcome when trying to escape”.

In mid–August, they murdered the children of Antoni and Maria Wereszczyński who were murdered at that time: 3‑year‑old Jerzy and 7‑year‑old Czesława, who had been wandering around the village since the slaughter on July 3. Also in mid–August, they murdered 105‑year‑old Roman Krasicki – first they hung him on a string on a tree, and when the string broke, they killed him with clubs.
