Zielona

(in the vicinity)

The UPA murdered Leon Witwicki and his wife Maria: „The uncle from Zielona did not want to leave. Perhaps it didn't matter to him already. It died on August 8, 1943, when the UPA in the region of Kisielin began the final «cleansing» action, which was to lead to the complete annihilation of the Polish element in it. As Włodzimierz Sławosz Dębski later established, uncle Maria died after four weeks of mourning the murdered children on the threshold of her home, defending access from it. Uncle Leon, who broke down completely after the death of his children, the Ukrainian attackers hacked with an ax in bed. Dębski later established with the help of Ukrainian literature that the murder in Kisielin and its vicinity was carried out by the UPA units, which were part of the battalion belonging to Sicz Świniarzyńska. This battalion was commanded by a certain Sosenko. It consisted of three sotnyas. They were stationed in Świniarzyn, Moczułki and Wołczak. The commander of the Moczulska sotnya, responsible for all the murders in the vicinity of Kisielin, was Petro Wlasiuk. It was stationed in the Ukrainian villages of Osiekrów, Ośmigowicze, Sieniawka, Oździutycze and Moczułki, where its command was located. How the 27th Volhynian Infantry Division of the Home Army was established, as I found out later, its group «Gromada» decided to attack the UPA base in Świniarzyn. The troops grouped in it, however, did not accept the fight, but escaped. The UPA specialized mainly in murdering the defenseless. Its knockers did not show bravery in their clash with the armed units”.
