On September 19, 1944, around 20 a.m., a group of 40 people entered the village of Zielece from the side in [si] Piłatkowce. [The bandits were] armed with automatic machines of various systems, machine guns and rifles of various systems, and with grenades, and dressed in the uniforms of privates and officers of the Red Army. The gang drove up to the house of Żoliński Michał s/o Piotr. Apart from the Żoliński MP in the house there were: Żoliński's wife Maria d/o Ignacy, Żoliński's son Adam s/o Michał and Żoliński's son Franciszek s/o Michał (all of Polish nationality). The gang fired and threw grenades at the house, then set fire to it. During the shooting from the house to the drying room, Adam s/o Michał, born in 1921 in [si] Zielenieka in our region, ran out of the house and lived there, a Pole who had not suffered any wound. During the attack, the following people were beaten: 1. Żolińska Maria d/o Ignacy, born in 1886 in the village of Zielece and living there, a Pole. 2. Żoliński Franciszek s/o Michał, born in 1932 in the village of Zielece and living there, a Pole, and the wounded was Michał Żoliński, s/o Piotr, born in 1884 in the village of Zielece and living there, a Pole who is staying in a hospital in Borszczów. The gang stayed in the village for about 6 hours and left in the direction of the village of Piłatkowce in our region. Żoliński Adam s/o Michał recognized among the bandits the inhabitants of the village of Zieleniec: Pasternak Mychajła s/o Petr (a veterinarian) and Safjaniuk Hryhorij s/o Petr (deputy chairman of the S[iel] soviet in Zieleniec), whom we arrested and we are investigating their case to identify other gang members.
