During the attack, the Banderites murdered 3 Poles, and the fight was undertaken by Polish self–defense. „On October 5, 1943, Deleg. Pol.KO Zbaraż that on the night of October 4–5, a group of 200 Volhynian The Ukrainians attacked Poles living in Zarudeczek with the intention of murdering and looting their property. The gang was armed with hand and machine guns, and also operated with hand grenades. Everything indicates that she had an understanding with the Ukrainians from Zarudeczek, and that there was a Galician element among her. As evidence, the first shots were fired at the hidden Polish guards, and moreover, the Poles of Zarudeczka, hidden in attics and in straw, clearly distinguished the language of The local Ukrainians from the language of the Volhynians. Finally, it is characteristic that part of the village inhabited exclusively by the Ukrainians was specially guarded. The most compelling evidence comes from the robbery victims. 3 Poles were fatally wounded and 2 were wounded, 1 of which was in the local hospital in Zbaraż. One Ukrainian is among the accidentally killed. The relatively small number of victims is explained by the fact that the vigilant Polish guard in time alerted the sleepers, and the men, the Poles, put up a strong resistance to the gang. For this reason, the gang managed to occupy only 1/3 of the village, which they burned and robbed. 15 households with houses are burnt. Livestock – 50 were stolen”.
