In October 1945, the UPA attacked Zalesie twice in the Przemyśl county. It was a punishment for the local residents not making a contribution. The Banderites burned 68 farm buildings, previously robbing Poles' property. Eight people were killed during the attack, two of them burned down and two were injured. 5 Poles were also kidnapped to drive the stolen cattle. Survivors were deprived of shelter, clothing, and food.
