general info

Żabin

According to an account by Franciszka Krawec, née Żółkiewicz, during the war a resident of Żabin, the names of the murdered who were remembered: 1. Boguslawski. 2. Jan Twardowski – a blacksmith who lives near the school. 3. Piller. 4. Kempiński. The killings in Żabin were not a one–off attack. People caught away from home died, and neighbors were to kill them  […] Well, my grandfather, Antoni Żółkiewicz, came from Żabin and he claimed that his whole family was murdered by the Ukrainians. Unfortunately, I did not get to know his history in detail before his death. All I know is that he supposedly joined the Home Army. After the war, he was wanted in Poland by the security services. He changed his name to Michał Ziółkiewicz.
