general info

Wólka Sadowska

The Ukrainians from neighboring villages murdered 80 Poles. The beastly slaughter took place in houses, in gardens, yards and nearby fields. The bodies were mostly without clothes, unbelievably mutilated and massacred, with traces of rapes, torture, cuts with knives and scythes, stabbing with bayonets and pitchforks, chopping with axes. The corpses were found in the crops during the harvest, decaying, beyond recognition. The farmyards were full of charred remains of people, horses, cattle and pigs. Including „Ukrainian partisans” murdered the 5–person Lachiewicz family with 3 children: 10‑year‑old Waldemar, 9‑year‑old Danuta and 5‑year‑old Zofia – „the girls had broken arms, twisted legs and other signs of” abuse. Mieczysław Romanowski, a 40‑year‑old carpenter, and his 43‑year‑old sister Maria were cut with a scythe, and the 43‑year‑old sister–in–law of Mieczysław Emilia was stabbed with a bayonet. The 5–person family of Ludwik Tuński with their children aged 13, 9 and 3 burnt alive.
