general info

Włodzimierzówka

For weeks and every day, I have met many wounded people in the city, many refugees from various parts of Volhynia, and sometimes the bodies of the murdered were brought to the city. Once once, around the end of August, the Germans brought seven coffins with the bodies of the murdered in them. I was just walking down this street and I saw that there was already a crowd of people there, so I looked. I was terrified of what I was looking at now. It was a Polish family from the Polish village of Włodzimierzówka, they all had their eyes gouged out so that they hung on their cheeks, their tongues stretched out below their chins, their bellies were cut open, and barbed wire was clogged inside. The four children had twisted legs, so cruelly that the skin cracked on their legs. I stood there for a while and heard people say to each other: „That killed grandfather was a Ukrainian and he got an order from other Ukrainians: «Either you kill your family or we will finish you all!». As this grandfather reportedly resisted, the criminals did as” had announced. When people repeated this story from mouth to mouth, the Germans photographed the massacred bodies of a Polish–Ukrainian family. I did not stand there for a long time and, devastated, I returned home. This event took place after the massacre of Teresin.
