Witkowce

In one of the notebooks, Fr Tadeusz Chrobak writes down: Murdered on May 20, 1943 in Witkowce near Kołodno: 1.Berbeć Piotr, 2.Błaszczyszyn Marcin, 3. Borcz Władysław, 4. Kazimirów Marcin + 12.VI.1943.

Perhaps the date „20.V.1943” is written by mistake and it is the date „20.IV.1943”. W. and E. Siemaszko on p. 438 say about the village of Witkowce: „During the Holy Week (april 19–23) 1943, during the night, the UPA took three men with unremembered names from their houses: the coachman, count. Grocholski from Kołodno; scout activist; and «an exemplary» Catholic. Behind the village, they tied them by the legs to a horse cart and dragged them to the cemetery in Kołodnie, i.e. about 4 km”. They do not mention the murder of Marcin Kazimir. In turn, on p. 434 they write that in the cemetery the victims had their heads chopped off and buried in a pit. Then they write on the same page about the villages of Kołodno Lisowszczyzna and Kołodno Siedlisko: „in May 1943, also at night, were abducted from their home and massacred: Władysław Barszcz, 50; Piotr Berbeć, years 20; Marcin Ciura, 28 years old; and the commander of the Riflemen's association with an unremembered name. Their bodies were found at the cemetery in Kołodno”.
