Jan Dajczak, who was killed on 13.03.44 in Wierzbowczyk, is the brother of my mother–in–law – Maria Dajczak, who is 84 years old and alive. He was 15 then, not 21. Jan lived in a village called Bolesławów together with his mother. His father and sister were deported to Russia. When he heard that Ukrainian terrorists were operating in the area, he fled to a nearby forest. The Ukrainians on horses found him. He spoke Ukrainian fluently and told them he was Ukrainian. They took Jan with them. When they reached the village of Styberówka, he was betrayed by a Ukrainian man named Sikora who worked on their land. Sikora said that Jan is a Pole, not a Ukrainian. They then hung him on a tree.
