Fragment of an interview with Hryhorija Piziur, born in 1929 in Hrebenny about the murders on the inhabitants of this village by Polish Army soldiers:
„[In Hrebenny there was an underground member with the pseudonym 'Bajda', and his name was Stefan Piziur, son of Wasyl […] The Poles killed his nephew.
— «Who it was?»
— «Mykhailo Piziur, son of Andriy».
— «Did he belong to the UPA?»
— «He didn't, he was still small, young. It was 1946» […]
— «And how did it happen that they killed this Mykhaila?»
— « We ran away together… The Poles were making a manhunt, they wanted to take them to Ukraine, people fled. In the forest, everyone was with carts, with pigs, and slept there, they built dugouts. And then [the Poles] made a manhunt, it was on March 28 at 9.00 They circled the forest and started it all, fury, burn it all…»
— «And what forest was it in?»
— «Between Hrebenny and Werchratą. They launched a hunt on the road between Tomaszów and Lviv. They made an ambush. We all ran away from Lipka, from Horajów, from Bożyków towards Korn. We ran to the road, we see that there is an army on horses and there are tankettes. We are back. I quickly threw away what was unnecessary and climbed onto the spruce, I became attached. And he climbed under the root. The military began to fly. A military man came, a kabewiak [i.e. a member of Commie–Nazi Internal Security Corps KBW] and…»
— «How did you know it was a kabewiak?»
— «Because they had navy blue wrappers. Kabewiak shouted at him: ‹Hands up!›. He let go of the burst and killed him»”.

Excerpt from Ołeksij Szupr's memoirs about Ukrainians murdered in Werchrata by bandits from Polish villages:
„From the west, an avalanche of Polish bandits, plunderers, took over everything that had some value. The bandits not only robbed property, but also killed people. The gangs then killed: […]
Snihur Dmytro, a well–known self–taught master from Luzhkov, who knew how to make grinders for grinding groats by himself. They killed this talented man for nothing in the early summer of 1945”.

„Even more tragic events took place in Werchrata. People would come there after the Ukrainians had been evicted and displaced and searched houses for things they needed. Two such seekers entered a house near the station in Werchrata. On the kitchen table, they saw freshly stuck dumplings, and in a pot with already cooled water, undercooked dumplings were visible. It was as if the whole family had been here a moment ago and suddenly disappeared. They looked into the basement and were amazed, the whole family was lying on the ground, each of them was cut in half with a handsaw, next to it was a bloody saw”…
