1945 May 6, Kunkowce — Report of the MO in Kunkowce for PMO in Przemyśl about the murder of Jan Kowalczyk in Wapowce:
„I report that on 5 May 1945, around 6 p.m., the village of Wapowce was attacked by an armed gang of over 200 people. This unit came from the forest from the side of Węgierka. During the attack, they wanted to take the horse from the local Ukrainian, Kowalczyk, Jan, and when he refused, he was shot with two shots, and they took the horse. After taking the horse, the unit retreated to the forest
The next day, on May 6, 1945, at 5 am, the same unit probably surrounded the whole village and then took 2 cows, 10 horses with a harness and carts. Then they stole everything that fell into their hands. At that time, Grecko Jan tried to run from the village, and when he did not obey the call to stop, they fired several shots at him, as a result of which he was seriously wounded. The wounded man was taken to hospital in Przemyśl on the same day. Let me mention that the robbery of cattle, horses, carts and other property was carried out on the Ukrainian population […]
