During World War II, which began in 09.1939 by the German and Russian invasions of Poland, after the expulsion of the Germans in 1944 by the victorious Russian army and the start of another Russian occupation, murdered (according to Ukrainian sources) by a «Polish gang» — prob. unit of the People's Security Guard LSB, part of the BCh Peasant Battalions, but not merged with the Home Army, commanded by Roman Kisiel nom‑de‑guerre. Vulture — in the presbytery, with his wife, and 8‑13 other villagers.
According to Polish sources, a 15‑person unit of the LSB attacked the village of Ujkowice in retaliation for the death of «Poles, whom the Ukrainians denounced to the Germans / Nazis, as a result of which they ended up in Auschwitz, and for the fact that a Greek Catholic priest blessed the knives to be used on Poles».
According to some sources, the priest was to «bless and make sacrifices at burial mounds in which Poland was symbolically buried», Ujkowice was to be the site of «armed structures of the Ukrainian underground» (i.e. the Ukrainian genocidal organization OUN / UPA).
The attackers «in the first place surrounded the priest's house and shot the priest and his wife»
