Excerpt from Josyp Wojtowycz's account of the murder of Ukrainians in Trójczyce:
„In 1945, on the night of February 22–23, a new tragedy took place: the murder by Polish bandits led by Bolshevik 'liberators' of many inhabitants of my village, Trójczyce. My 67‑year‑old uncle, her daughter‑in‑law Kateryna Wojtowycz (née Hrynewycz) with two children at her breast, was murdered. The young woman was slaughtered with bayonets as an animal, the children were left in the blood next to the murdered mother and grandmother […] Emil Kowal, an 18‑year‑old boy, was killed in bed in an animal manner by a bayonet. Wasyl Wojtowycz, his wife Antonina, daughter of Stefanija Wojtowycz, were shot from a machine in the attic. 65‑year‑old Kateryna Wojtowycz, her 20‑year‑old daughter Emilia and daughter–in–law Pelagia were stabbed with bayonets. Katerena's 3‑year‑old grandson was wounded by a shot in the back of the head, but he survived. Wasyl Wojtowicz (75‑year‑old farmer) was shot at home, and his son Josyf suffered a serious wound and miraculously survived”.
