Tomaszów
During the attack, the UPA murdered over 20 Poles and a Polish–Ukrainian family of four. „I am looking for a witness of the martyrdom of Zdzisio Gawel, age 5. Someone saw him being led, tied by the neck by the Ukrainians with a tightening loop, and lifted up on this loop as the executioners leading the child walked through the Ukrainian village of Postójne. There were crowds of Ukrainian people talking to each other by the road. Then the leaders of the child raised the chair and the child hovered in the air, waving its arms and legs, because it was suffocating. People turned their heads in horror, not wanting to look at it. And the executioners were amused by the child's reaction and repeated the theater with the next crowd of people. Who saw the final of this inhuman «party»? We have not established how his older brother Julek died. We only guess that he might have died on the farm of Witoszka, a Ukrainian neighbor, or near his dead parents around March 25, 1943. Maybe someone saw the murder? Furmanek Filip and his daughter Helena were murdered on the way to Rivne in July 1943. His wife Marianna was murdered on March 25, 1943 in Tomaszów. Sheaf (a young woman in high pregnancy, her name unknown), was burnt alive in a barn together with other Poles near Janowa Dolina or in Polanówka. unknown date 1943. The murder of Tomaszów, along with many names, is described in the book Returns to Wołyń Krzemionkowskiej Łowkis”.
