Since spring, Poles have been abducted one by one, after which the trace is lost. Polish hosts must feed the Upów village in the forest. Ukrainian neighbors make sure that the Poles do not run away from the village, they calm down. On July 16, they order them to gather in a forest clearing to „to protect them” from German pacification. The Poles sang „Beneath Thy Protection” and were murdered by the „Ukrainian partisans”. Next to it, another group of Poles, brought from Boroszyce, was murdered. For the next days, the hunt continues for the Poles in hiding, they tortured and killed those captured. At least 52 victims are known.
