Ukrainians murdered at least 12 Poles. „In 1943, Tajkury, Kopytków and the surrounding villages became places of slaughter of the Polish population (Kopytków – June 15, June 17, June 18; Nowosiółki – June 18; Stefanówka – June 19; Tajkury – April 11, 1. V, 18. VI and 28. VI). According to the waste book of the Tajkura parish, kept by Fr Walerian Głowacz, 29 people were killed then  […] He added the following notes to the names of the buried parishioners: «murdered by bandits or murdered by Ukrainians». In July 1943, broken and ill, he left Tajkura, going to Zdołbunów. Later he was a priest in Nowogród Wołyński  […] I developed this list at the beginning of the years. 90 of the twentieth century at the request of Mr. Romuald Wernik, who published it in a modified form in his book: Romuald Wernik, «Tajkury – the village that used to be a city», London, 1997. A copy of the book of baptisms and deaths of the Tajkura parish from 1939– 1943 was given to Fr prof. Waldemar Witold Żurek, SDB, who published the information contained therein in his monumental work entitled «Lists of people from the parish files of the Lutsk diocese until 1945» (vol. VI, Lublin 2010, pp. 1105–1128). This was done to facilitate access to the archival book documenting the martyrdom of the Polish nation in Volhynia. We have prayed many times for these victims in Zdołbunów, Ostrog and Tajkury themselves. During the funeral services, we read the list of those murdered in Tajkury and its vicinity. We also organized two pilgrimages to Tajkury in the 1990s on August 10 from Ostróda and Zdołbunów. These pilgrimages were attended, among others, by clerics from Krakow: Piotr Janczy, Bolesław Karcz, Stanisław Molendys and Waldemar Szlachta. It was so until the SBU and the Dean, Fr Władysław Czajka from Równe, who suggested not to make noise around Tajkury. Scouts from Zdołbunów and young people from Poland have recently started tidying up the former Catholic cemetery and the church itself in Tajkury. Fr andrzej Ścisłowicz with parishioners in Zdołbunów cherishes the memory of innocent people murdered in Tajkury and the surrounding area. so it was worth organizing these unwelcome pilgrimages in the early 1990s ”…
