Excerpt from Myron Iwanowycz Łychacz's memoirs about the murder of a Ukrainian, Vasyl Mykyt, in Stary Selo by members of the Citizens' Militia of the Republic of Poland:
„At the end of 1944, Poles set up a Polish police station in our village, about 20 militiamen moved to a village office. They took young Ukrainians and tormented them as best they could. Once they caught Dmytro Panas and Vasyl Mykita. Vasyl was murdered, and Dmytra was released, barely alive”.

Fragment of Roman Karchut's memoirs about the murder of MO members and bandits from a Polish village in Stepan Harasymowycz, a Ukrainian in Stary Siola:
„The morning of March 1 was cloudy, repulsive and cold in the village of Jalina in the Lubaczów region. From the neighboring village of Lipina, a black cloud of snow was moving towards [Lipina], and behind it a similarly black and terrible column of Polish policemen and knights from the bandit organization of 'peasant battalions' […] 27‑year‑old Stepan Harasymowycz decided to hide in the barn […] Uncle Hryć went with him, in order not to fall into the hands of bad people […] After some time, uninvited guests burst into the yard like feral dogs. They took everything that they liked better and started looking for a young host […]
Uncle Hryć continued:
— «When they pulled Stepan out of the way, they started to beat him terribly. At the plea that he was not guilty of anything, that he was not involved in politics, the commander of the knights shouted: ‹You may not be guilty today, Bandera scoundrel, and what will you do tomorrow, I don't know! You will pick up a gun and you will kill our colleagues. There will be no this! You are done today! An ax, friends, I will make him a wedding!›».
After these words, a Polish villager Belweder jumped outside, took an ax from the woodshed and gave it to the elderly executioner. Uncle heard them dealing withdealing with Stepan: they threw him to the ground, many dull blows fell on his defenseless body, they chopped him, he heard screams and groans, groans, in the end his voice was completely dead. They chopped off his arms and legs, and finally they chopped his head off”.

Excerpt from Hanna Duda's memoirs about the murder of MO members against more than 17 Ukrainians in Stare Sioło:
„In 1944, the Soviets temporarily gave power to the Poles so that they would crack down on Ukrainian insurgents. In March 1945, the Polish police attacked Stare Sioło. People fled to the forest, and if someone missed it, he was shot. My father, Vasyl Harasymovych, escaping from his yard to the forest, shouted to his neighbor, Jurek Łychacz (Jackiwa), standing by the well with his 9‑year‑old son:
— «Run away with me!».
The neighbor replied:
— «I was not here, I came only from captivity, I don't know anything, so I have no reason to run away».
And when the Polish police came, they did not ask if he «knows or not», and immediately shot him and his son […]
On that terrible March day in 1945, Polish chauvinists killed over 17 Ukrainians in our village, who mostly dealt with politics quite. I only remember the following fellow residents:
Łychacz Jurko — born in 1905,
Łychacz Jarosłąw — born on in 1936 (Jackiwows),
Czelij Wasyl — born in 1902,
Czelij Kateryna — born in 1908 (Warcabows),
Sosnowa Ksenia — born in 1872,
Dubyk Wasyl — born in 1900,
Kozak Iwan — born in 1914,
Czerepaka Stepan — born in 1905,
Tuczak Wasyl — born in 1889,
Mech Teodor — b. in 1870,
Proń Marija — born in 1866”.
