My uncle, Józef Rzadki, my father's older brother, died in Stanimierz. He came from Hanaczów and got married in Stanimierz. He was murdered by his brother–in–law (the husband of his wife's sister). It was probably in September, during the second Soviet occupation.

After the front had passed, when the men were taken to the army, the Bandera followers came out of their hiding places at night and kidnapped defenseless women. Stanimierz became such a punishment, where, among others, Anna Nieckarz, Antonina Piwowar, Katarzyna Blicharska and my wife's brother, Michał Niebylski, an 18‑year‑old boy, died. For several days, bandits tortured the kidnapped. Ukrainian executioners tore the victims' tongues, veins from their hands and pushed wires to the ears, nose, throat and eyes. The main leader of this gang was a Ukrainian named Dżegin. I know from the stories told by local older people that terrible groans were heard from the house where these inhuman murders took place. People who passed by had to plug their ears.

When I was in this village after the war, a Ukrainian friend showed me a house in which bandits were tormenting their victims in the basement.
