On November 18, 1943, there was an attack on the forest inspectorate in Sokołówka, county Zolochiv. The attack began around 15. There was a frontal fight that lasted until 24.00, and according to another version until morning. Fifteen Poles armed with shotguns and rifles resisted. The gamekeeper and one of the officials were killed in the fight, but also several (perhaps ten) attackers. Ok. at midnight there was a ceasefire. In return for the release of two hostages – a woman and a child (according to another version of the hostages there were five) – the Ukrainians were allowed to collect the dead and wounded. The barn and the stable with four horses, seven cows and two pigs were burned down.
