Excerpt from Hałyna Zacharczuk's account of the murder of 13 Ukrainians:
„On March 8, 1945, a terrible tragedy took place during the resettlement of the inhabitants of our village to the Ukrainian SSR (under Russian control). A column of wagons with displaced persons, consisting of 13 people, followed 12 submarines loaded with the property towards the Chełm station. Near the village of Białopole, bandits stopped her and returned to the forest. They robbed the property and burned people alive. Among the murdered were Mykola Maksymovych Pawluk, Serhiy Lentijovych Lytvynchuk from my family”.
