general info
105 Poles were murdered in the German–Ukrainian pacification and 24 partisans of the Home Army were killed in the fight: „which 105 inhabitants of these villages” were murdered (the verdict of the Provincial Court in Lublin of January 29, 1972 in the case of Teodor Dak, in: http://koris.com.ua/other/14728/index.html?page=407). „Fighting partisans, overwhelmed by the numerical and fire superiority of the Germans and Ukrainians, begin to suffer losses. The opponent begins, as before in Szarbia, the pacification of the city, murdering, robbing, raping and burning”.

Thursday, August 5, 1944 for the inhabitants of Skalbmierz is the most tragic memory of the city's history. At dawn, German and Ukrainian troops began a bloody pacification of the town. Children, old people, women were raped and also killed […] The greatest battle of the Partisan Republic (Kazimiersko–Proszowice) was won by the Poles. However, the joy of the victory was disturbed by the tragic balance of losses for the victors, 20 partisans were killed and as many as 80 civilians were murdered.
