Rudnia

[The Ukrainians] murdered 141 Poles. „Antoni Sienkiewicz also told me how Ukrainian nationalists previously attacked the Polish village of Rudnia near Kisielin and murdered Poles there. It was like this: when they burst into the house of Leokadia Dobrowolska, who was staying with her husband there, she managed to survive. Meanwhile, her husband and the entire Dobrowolski family were cruelly murdered. In this attack, which took place about 3 days before the attack on Dominopol, most of the inhabitants of the Polish village of Rudnia were killed. So it was either July 8 or 9, 1943”.

W and E Siemaszko on pp. 166 – 168 date the raid on the village of Rudnia on July 12, and among the 141 Poles murdered they also mention Leokadia Dobrowolska. From April the UPA requisitioned food, bowls, spoons, towels, etc. Here, some of the victims were killed on the spot using brutal tortures and rapes, some were spent in front of the chapel and slaughtered there with axes, scythes, knives, forks, etc. The village, robbed and burned, stopped exist.

When we left Wojnica, 2 km away, we saw a terrible view on the right side of the road. Great fire – the whole village of Rudnia is burning. You can hear the moans of murdered people, the roar of cattle and the barking of dogs. A terrifying sight and great fear, because our transport can also circle around and kill it at any moment. On the left side of the road, also up to 2 km, the village of Róża – the same view: the Ukrainian bandits are on fire and murdering Poles. We are driving in silence and everyone is praying that we can safely reach the city.

The village of Róża, county Horochów was not mentioned in the Siemaszków work. The above account shows that the Polish population was murdered there on July 12, 1943, and the buildings were burnt.
