Fragment of Jarosław Andruch's memoirs about the murders of Ukrainians in Ropienka by soldiers of the Polish Army and members of MO:
The Polish army has settled in the Mine. Officially, to strengthen the militia, but in addition to protecting the mine, it was also tasked with attacking nearby villages  […] In the summer of 1945, during the attack on Zawadka, the army was heavily defended by the UPA and was defeated, with many killed and wounded. When returning through Ropienka Dolna, the soldiers behaved very aggressively, people hid because they picked on everyone they met on the way. A man who visited a neighbor on his way back from the mine was shot for no reason. It was Stanisław Kociuba, a resident of Ropiencz, a man known because he led a village choir.
Half of the upper end of the village burned down then, and the army ended the operation at Chreboriwka. The partisans left for Chwaniów. Four people died during these events: Sofija Rudiak, Antin Tarnawski, Iwan Wojciszyn, Mykoła Iwanocki. They were buried in a mass grave in the cemetery near the church  […]
After the defeat at Zawadka, the army also killed, apart from Kociuba, old Josyp Bulwan near his own house
