On that tragic night, 47 people died, including 17 young boys and 4 women […] . My cousin, Edward Świczewski, died in my mother's arms. Uncle Maria ran away with three children. Two younger, several years old run away first. She is arrested with the oldest, Edward. Upowiec tells her to go to the stable and release the cattle. Was he trying to save her son? But she, anxious about the fate of two younger children – Anna and Marian, did not follow this seemingly good advice. She did not know then that the two children were already in a safe place. While escaping with Edward farther into the garden, she came across another UPA, injuring Edward by shooting through his cheeks. Edward is falling. Mother is calling – „Edziu, where are you?” Hear a faint answer – „I can't get up”. He bends down, picks up the baby, resting his head on his shoulder. Then the bandit shoots Edward a second time. Brain spurts and blood pours onto the mother's hand […] My second cousin, Jan Stefanów, was also murdered in the arms of my mother. And in front of the father who asked the bandit to kill him instead of his son. Upowiec did not listen […] Marcin Andruszków did not want to run away. He walked out of the burning farmyard and was immediately killed there. He was about 70 years old. Mikołaj Bednarz escaped to the basement, but later – when the fire got closer – he left it to release – the horses from the stable. He was shot in the head. He was over 50 years old. Maria Buczyńska (over 40) was murdered together with her 10‑year‑old daughter Karolina; which she was holding in her arms. Józef Rzatkowski (about 30) shot in a meadow. Led to death, he prayed aloud. Rzatkowski, two brothers (Piotr i?) – killed. Circumstances unknown. Marcin Rzatkowski killed in unknown circumstances. About 60. Katarzyna Wiatyk with her 12‑year‑old son killed while escaping from her house and burned in a fire. Anna Andruszków killed in her yard. Over 55 years old. Józef Andruszków killed in his yard; About 50 years old. Piotr Andruszków killed in unknown circumstances. About 50 years old. Piotr and Anna Buczyński – a married couple with two children –, hidden in the basement, suffocated with smoke. The same fate befell the Krasicki family, a married couple with two children, and Karolina Wiatyk – also with two children. Józef Łapszyński (55), shot, died in a hospital in Brzeżany. Hand amputation did not help. His wife Maria, severely burned, died later. Władysław Uchman, a cripple (30) – killed in unknown circumstances. Some The Ukrainians from our village were also killed that night. It is not known whether there was a mistake here, whether the bandits allowed such a possibility. Wasyl Drobnicki (30) was murdered on the road next to his farm […] Michał Semkow (around 50) was killed near his house. During his escape from home, 16‑year‑old Iwanicki was killed at the door. Hładkij and Hnat, wounded, died in the hospital in Brzeżany. The Lemko family (surname and names unknown), who came to us a few days before from the west, were also murdered. The father of this family, desperate and confused, asked my mother where she could hide. In the morning, the entire family was found dead in a roadside ditch. In the square in front of the church, 36 people were buried, suffocated in smoke and burned […] Michał Semkow (around 50) was killed near his house.
