Poznanka Hetmańska

They robbed and burned down Polish farms and murdered 19 Poles and 2 Ukrainians. Bogusław Bowa's witness: „They ordered them to appear, and later took them somewhere – describes Bogusław with a trembling voice. – Later, freshly dug soil and traces of blood were noticed in the meadows. They were all buried there. They were massacred, the torturers had no mercy. I remember that my neighbor tied her husband's head with a scarf so that it would not fall apart. I remember the lamentation at the funeral. And what a terrible thing. The Germans came and ordered them to be kicked out again. To make a photographic documentation. It was already terrible”.

Witness Danuta Kotelec née Deputat: „They entered the village and told the Germans that they were to bring boys aged 15 to 19 – reports Danuta. – After a few days, the boys' mothers went to the Germans and it turned out that they didn't know anything about it. They started looking and went to a nearby brickyard. Our boys' bodies were dug up there. They were so horribly tortured. Apparently, one of the Germans fainted at the sight of it. Later, a German officer gave the mother of one of the boys a pistol, which allowed her to shoot the village head who was behind the abduction, but the woman only cried”.

Poznanka Hetmańska

Witness Danuta Kotelec née Deputat: „My uncle made shelters in the barn behind straw snobs. Bandits usually burned houses, leaving the gathered crops alone. This time, however, they fired incendiary missiles – the barn caught fire. There were about ten people there – she says, while she is wiping away the tears accumulating in the corners of her eyes. – In a panic, my uncle dragged us out one by one, even though his back was starting to burn. Unfortunately, my aunt did not make it. I will never forget the sight of her in the” coffin.

It was after the arrival of the Soviet army, probably after the harvest of 1944.
