Poręby

The UPA murdered 7 Poles; probably this crime is related to the testimony of a witness from Huta–Poręba: „The cows roared terribly at the farmers near the forest. Someone noticed this. This hut was remote from the village. Trees and bushes grew right behind her, and a forest began. Several of the hosts went to see what was going on. When they entered the farm buildings, there was no sign of a tragedy. Chickens were walking calmly in the yard, pots were hung on the fence, only those cows… they roared and roared. Probably no one let them drink, so thirsty animals, roaring, demanded water. When the men looked into the room, they panicked. The whole family sat at the table. all murdered. The Ukrainians, famous for their bestiality, nailed all family members with their tongues to the table. – You know what? The Germans, at least, murdered «humanly»: they shot a man, they stabbed them with a bayonet, and the Ukrainians behaved like animals. Before they killed a man, they had to massacre him, tear off his skin, and tear out his insides. They threw people into wells or wrapped them in barbed wire. In order for the mother to go mad before her death, the child was impaled on the fence in front of her. Monsters – says Zofia Konieczna”.

Poręby

In the village of Huta–Poręby, district of Brzozów, the UPA murdered an unspecified number of Poles:
It was the first day of January 1946. In the middle of the night, she heard dogs barking rapidly, then howling and the inhuman screams of people being murdered.
— Sophie, where are you? Sophie !!! — She heard her mother calling.
Mom grabbed the arm of her blind grandfather and her sister's four‑year‑old daughter. And just like they were standing, the four of them jumped out of the hut and fled into the fields, into the night darkness. There was fire and acrid smoke, you could hear shots and groans of dying people, the wailing of women.
She doesn't remember how long they ran away. They were speeding through the forest. Farther from the village, faster. They did not feel tired, fear gave them strength. The mother thanked God for saving her and for the fact that her other daughter was not at home. She was on duty in a remote village and that saved her.
The little niece did not see her mother or father anymore. The Ukrainians murdered the mother. Before they died, they broke her on the wheel to tell her where her husband was. She did not tell. Unfortunately, Ukrainian bandits found him and murdered him. The niece was brought up by Zosia's mother and another aunt. They were saved in the village of Dylągowa
”.

Fragment of Josyf Bak's memoirs about the murder of Ukrainians in Poręby by Polish Army soldiers:
Before the military operations of the Polish Army, Poręby effectively defended themselves against gangs. The people's government did not endure this resistance: on January 10, 1946, at 1 p.m., the pacification unit of the Polish Armed Forces burnt the entire area of Poręby. Two people died in the hideout from the bullets and smoke”.
