general info

Poraż

Fragment of the report of the MO Post in Szczawne about the murder of an unknown Ukrainian from Jawornik:
On October 19, 1945, Ivan Fenio from Kulaszny was returning from Sanok to Kulaszne in a horse–drawn cart after giving up the cabbage quota and on the road in Tarnawa, the Lesko poviat took his cart 2 unknown individuals with horses to the forest in Poraż, where Wasyl Horbis, Jan Wernejowski from Szczawne and an unknown individual from Jawornik also traveled. In the forest in Poraż, carter Fenio, Horbis and Wernejowski jumped off the cart and ran away, leaving their horses and cart, while an unknown individual from Jawornik remained in the forest, where he was arrested by one of the perpetrators. As Fenio, Horbis and Wernejowski noted from a distance, the individual was probably shot by one of the perpetrators, for they heard a shot and saw him fall to the ground groaning”.
