Pobużany
The Banderites murdered a forester Władysław Janiszewski with his family: „Grandfather Władysław forester in Grabowa murdered in 1943 Pobużany – grandmother of Józef née Jaśkiewicz murdered in Pobużany 1943. – their children; Bronisław, Stanisława, Adam born in Grabowa, murdered in Pobużany in 1943” […] „I am asking you to include my ancestors in the list of those murdered in the Tarnopol Province. According to the oral record of uncle Władysław Janiszewski on April 23, 1943. at noon, a group of armed The Ukrainians entered the yard of our house in Pobużany. We were herded into a large room. Then they told my mother to prepare food, because I was little (10 years old) they let me go to the kitchen, and when we were left alone, I ran out of the window to the forest. I hid in the bushes on the hill, watching the house. In the evening I saw their parents and siblings being taken out. Their hands and feet were bound and they were covered in blood. They had cords around their necks with stakes at the end. I saw them suffocating them by twisting the rope, then driving their stakes through their larynx into the ground. Dad was the last to be killed. Driving away in carts with belongings from our house, he was set on fire. I don't remember what happened next, in the morning my neighbors found me, woke me up and ordered me to run away. I was given a loaf of bread. After a few days, I got to Lviv to visit Aunt Michalina, with whom I stayed until 1945, when I went to Poland with the first repatriation transport. Murdered: Władysław Janiszewski, born in 1889 in Grabowa, forester of the Grabowa Forest District (father); Józefa Janiszewska née Jaśkiewicz (mother); Bronisław Janiszewski born on in the forester's lodge in Grabowa 1922; Adam Janiszewski b. in the forester's lodge in Grabowa 1926; Stanisława Janiszewska born on in the forester's lodge in Grabowa 1929. In 1941, the Germans displaced us from the forester's lodge in Grabowa, where we lived, and we lived in Pobużany. Yours sincerely, Tadeusz Jan Janiszewski, grandson of Władysław and Józefa”.

The SB‑OUN militia murdered 2 Poles: a married couple. „The next day (i.e. after the murder in the village of Krasne on August 15, 1944 – comment by: Stanislaus Żurek), the same torturers murdered the mayor of the village of Pobużany – Grzegorz Przystański and his wife Katarzyna”.

Testimony of the witness Falińska Susabowska: „I know that in August 1944 the chairman of the village council in Pobużany, Grzegorz Przystański, was murdered. Paweł Czuczman's fiancée «Benito», whose name I do not remember, told me about this murder, a native of the village of Pobużany, that she saw how Kupiak and members of his militia killed the chairman and his wife. I cannot say exactly how it happened, I only know that Czuczman's fiancée saw Przystański leaving the village council meeting and informed the members of Kupiak's group about it, who approached him and took him with them. Przystański and his wife were murdered”.

During this attack, the following were murdered: Julia Kamińska, Iwan Romaniuk, his wife Zofia, daughter Maria and her six–month–old son Zenon, Feliks Kowal, his wife Anastazja and sons – 15‑year‑old Mikołaj, 9‑year‑old Michał, Maria Hamulak and her 11‑year‑old Eugeniusz's son, Dymitr Bedrij, his wife Praska, and their children – 10‑year‑old Zenon, 13‑year‑old Maria and 18‑year‑old Franciszka. In total, 16 people were murdered. Kupiak personally murdered the family of the postman Feliks Kowal. The property of the murdered was stolen. Having learned that Dmitri Bedrij's pregnant sister, Maria, stayed with her brother Michał in the village of Wirzblany during the attack on Pobużany, the next night he went with his bandits to Wierzblany, took her, led her to the forest and murdered her. Testimony of witness Maria Rogowska, d/o Jan Romaniuk: „On the night of December 9–10, OUN bandits stormed our cottage and killed my father Ivan, my mother Zofia, my sister Maria and her son Zenon – an infant. The whole room was covered in blood. On the floor was my father's corpse with a wound in the back of the head. Next to it was my mother's body, with its head smashed unrecognizably. A little further away lay the corpse of my sister Maria and her six–month–old son. The dead infant was lying on Maria's chest with its head smashed and its right hand shot through. The bandits took all the property”. .
