Opatowiec
During the German–Ukrainian pacification, 31 inhabitants were murdered and 4 soldiers of the Home Army were killed in combat: „On July 28, 1944 in Opatowiec there was a fight between the Home Army units and Vlasovtsy, which was followed by the Nazi pacification of the village. 31 people, including children, were murdered. In total, the Nazis burned about 30 buildings, 10 people were burned alive”.

In retaliation, the Germans organized the pacification of Opatowiec by a battalion of Ukrainian fascists on July 29, murdering residents, raping women and burning buildings. Units of the Košice sub–district came to help the murdered population of Opatowiec […] , forcing the Ukrainian–German SS–men to withdraw beyond the Vistula.
