Nowa Grobla

Fragments of K. Wasylkewycz's memoirs about the murders of Ukrainians in Sucha Wola and other villages by soldiers of the Polish Armed Forces, members of MO and gangs from neighboring Polish villages:
They tortured many civilians before the deportation. Among others, in Nowa Grobla, at the railway station, they burnt 2 peasants from the Kozaki hamlet.
In the forest, they tied two boys (Misztal and Saramaga) to an oak tree, poured gasoline on them and set fire to them alive. Later they said that it was the UPA Banderites who burned 2 Poles in this place  […]
They shot Onyszek Samiel during the changing of the guard on the bridge on Lubaczówka near Nowa Grobla, thinking that a Banderite man was approaching the bridge
”.

Fragment of K. Wasylkewycz's memoirs about the murder of Ukrainians in Nowa Grobla by members of MO from neighboring villages:
As I have already mentioned, even before the deportation in Nowa Grobla, UPA and Polish partisans clashed, consisting of the inhabitants of the nearby villages of Czerniawka, Sopla, Łukawiec, a few from Nowa Grobla, and Miękisz Nowe. They also included the militia from the countryside and the poviat. Polish partisans usually attacked the countryside unexpectedly during the day, because they were afraid of the UPA at night. They took and plundered what they could from Ukrainian homes — clothes, sewing machines (heads), footwear, food, flour, rakes, lard, etc. If they found men in the house, they took them with them when they thought they were suspicious. This is how they took two from Nowa Grobla — Misztal and Łehki, whom they burnt alive in the forest near Nowa Grobla. This is how the 16—year—old son of a Ukrainian, Smołyński, Ivan, who was a clerk at the railway station in Nowa Grobla, was lost. One day this son went to the forest to pick mushrooms and never came back”.
