Mydzk Mały

or

Mydzk Wielki

Huta Szklana village (Mydzka), commune Stydyń Wielki. The photo reportage is dedicated to the memory of Jadwiga Osińska and Rozalia Osińska, Jadwiga's husband's sister, murdered in the estate in nearby Mydzek. When the administrator, Osiński, left for Rivne in April, his wife, sister and servants remained on the estate. The bandits cruelly murdered both women, Jadwiga, eight months pregnant, had her belly cut open from which the baby was sticking out. Local The Ukrainians were waiting for the returning from Rivne Osiński to warn him. Stealthily, at night, he managed to bury the murdered in the garden. Osiński himself was probably murdered in 1946 in the torture rooms of the UB. Nobody remembered his name. The children of Maria Tuszyńska, the sister of the murdered Jadwiga, Józef and Janina Tuszyński from Huta Mydzka, told me about the murder.

And: „In the second decade of April 1943, two women, Polish women, came to Huta with a request to save them, because they learned from their kind Ukrainian neighbors that in those days they and all the inhabitants of the so–called Kolonia Mydzka, where a dozen Polish families lived. First they went to the priests and the priests went to «the self–defense», so that they were all taken to Huta with their belongings. although reluctantly, the management agreed and the commander Konowerski appointed his deputy Libera for this trip. The defenders of Huta and Wyrki went. Habitat did not participate. after their arrival, no one disturbed them from loading the carts until the convoy was approaching the forest, and the access was in the open space, in the valley, the bandits on three sides fired, causing confusion. The only salvation was the forest, from which also accurate shots were fired. Stanisław Charewicz was from Siedlisko and he informed us about the losses suffered in Mydzek. Only dead bodies remained. Libera saved himself, but his arm was shot through and he was immobilized for many months. It was his mistake that he did so that he did not post a guard before leaving”.
